Happy Holidays From Lindy's Landing!

This year has been a great one.  We've had the chance to meet so many new people and watch them enjoy staying at our park.  Many families returned for weekends or family reunions and it's always nice to see them again.

We hope that you all have a great Christmas filled with family, friends and great memories.

As we welcome 2014, we hope that you all have a great year filled with life moments that will be remembered forever.  We also hope that some of those life moments happen right here at the park! :)

Happy Holidays from the staff at Lindy's Landing!!!

The Holiday Season Is Here!

The air is chilly and the lights are decorating both trees and houses, as if to announce this magical time of year.  The holiday season is among us and whether you happen to be visiting our city of Reedley or live here year round, we invite you to shop at the local stores in town.

As a small business ourselves, we know how crucial it is to have the support of the local community.  By taking the time to shop at the stores in Downtown Reedley before you head to the big box stores you help to support our town.  Local businesses need all the support they can get so remember to shop Reedley first!

If you need a place to get away from the hustle and bustle, need a place to stay when visiting relatives or have traveling relatives that need a place to stay, don't hesitate to call us and make a reservation.  Our park makes quite the retreat with the gentle sounds of the Kings River running by!

Looking for Some Halloween Fall Fun?

This time of year is so fun as the farming communities are hustling and bustling with harvest excitement!  Many families go out in the fields or to local pumpkin patches and get that perfect pumpkin (or two!) that will become the perfect jack o' lantern at the end of the month!

There are several places to pick your perfect pumpkin, some of our favorites are Hillcrest in Reedley or in Fresno.
Pumpkin King

If you're looking for a real scarefest than be sure to make a trip to Haunted Fresno!  And if a good ole fashion corn maze is what excites you than head over to the Fresno Corn Maze!

Call our park home for a weekend and head out to explore all the Fall activities that await you in our area.  We'd love to have you!

Fall is Officially Almost Here

The official start of Fall is in about a week.  Just because the weather has turned a little cooler, don't let it stop you from coming out to the park!

Staying with us in the Fall does mean less fun on the King River but that just leaves more time to explore the surrounding areas!  Downtown Reedley has some great restaurants, cafes, shopping and more!  Take a short drive to Fresno and find even more opportunities to wine, dine and shop the days away.

If you are looking to explore the area outdoors there are trails to hike or bike in the area, opportunities to view birds and other wild animals, fishing, scenic drives and more!

Don't let the end of Summer be the end to your visits here at the park.  We'd love to welcome you no matter the season! Give us a call today to reserve a site.

Forestiere Underground Gardens

Just a short drive away from our beautiful park is California State Landmark No. 916, the Underground Gardens.  The Underground Gardens are the life-long devotion and hobby of Baldassare Forestiere (1879-1946), a Sicilian immigrant who came to America in 1901 to escape the iron rule of his wealthy father and pursue his own dreams.  The Gardens are a subterranean complex of patios, grottos, and garden courts interconnecting with passageways that encircle the living quarters of the self-taught artist and builder who sought to escape the brutal heat of Fresno summers.

He patterned his underground world after the ancient catacombs.  But unlike the dark catacombs that protected the
remnants of the lifeless, he designed well-lit courtyards and grottos to bring forth the radiance and vitality of life.

He worked without drawing any plans and worked room by room, originating the ideas in his mind as he went.  With the simple tools of a farmer—a pick, a shovel, and a wheelbarrow—he dug, chipped, and carved the land for 40 years.  By the time he was 44 years-old, he had excavated and planted over 10 acres.

Forestiere also planted multiple varieties of fruit-bearing plants at different underground levels.  Oranges, lemons, grapefruits—many on a single tree—as well as more unusual varieties like kumquat, loquat, jujube, strawberry, quince, and dates could be easily plucked from the surface by simply bending down.  Wine and table grapes can also be found in sanctuary, and dangle in clumps all over.

For more information about this unique place and when you can visit, click here.

Be sure to call soon at (559) 897-2885 and book your site or sites for this summer.  The reservations are already starting to come in and it is sure to be a great, busy season!

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year!!!  We can't wait to see what 2013 has in store for us here at Lindy's Landing.  2012 was a good year for us but we have a feeling 2013 will be HUGE!  We've made a few resolutions but we'll see if we can stick with them the whole year.  Have you made any this year?  If not, we thought we'd help you out with a few suggestions.

Here are some RV related New Year's resolutions to get you thinking...

  • Stay somewhere new-  Why not explore a little?  Sure the tried and true places with friendly faces are great but think of all the new people you could meet this year just by staying at one new place.
  • Spend more time RVing-  Maybe you purchased your RV thinking that you would go on many trips a year but find it is collecting more dust than miles these days.  Resolve to make one extra trip this year!
  • Pack lighter-  Not only will this help ease travel but the lighter load will most likely save you some gas too and that will make your resolution to save money a reality!
  • Bike more when you travel-  Sure the car is convenient but if you don't absolutely need it for a trip leave it at home and bring a bike instead.  You will be saving gas and money by not towing a vehicle as well as for little trips to the market wile you are at your destination.
  • Try new recreational activities this year- Always wanted to try canoeing? horseback riding? hiking? Just do it!  Not only will it be a fun new experience but it will help you sneak some good-for-the-body exercise in.
  • Spend a little more time at each place you visit. Rather than hopping from one place to the next, why not slow down and really get to see where you are visiting?
  • Make the effort to purchase more produce and food items locally from where you are staying- Not only will you be supporting the local economy but you will also most likely be eating healthier and fresher food!
We'd love to see you, your family and friends at the park this year so give us a call and make a reservation today!
